In July 2004, about twenty authorisations for technical testing in the 3.4-3.8 GHz band were issued. These authorisations allow the testing of new wireless local loop equipment using Wimax technology. They are strictly technical and cannot include any commercial aspect. They were issued for a limited period of time.
ARCEP has decided to extend until the 31rst of January 2006 the authorisations for these technical tests to the operators and equipment manufacturers who wish to continue testing.
