ARCEP has received applications from Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile, Orange France and SFR for the award of a 4G licence in the 2.6 GHz band

The call for applications for licences to spectrum in the 2.6 GHz and 800 MHz frequency bands, to be used for ultra high-speed mobile networks, was issued on 15th June 2011.

The deadline set for applications for 2.6 GHz-band licences was 12 pm on 15th September 2011.

ARCEP received four applications within the set time frame, from the following parties:

- Bouygues Telecom;
- Free Mobile;
- Orange France;
- Société Française du Radiotéléphone (SFR).

ARCEP will now examine these applications, and particularly their eligibility, according to the procedure stipulated in the call for applications. The results of the procedure are expected to be announced by mid-October 2011.

Meanwhile, the deadline set for applications for licences to the 800 MHz band, which is part of the digital dividend, is 15th December 2011.
