In response to a request from the Ministry for Employment and Solidarity, the French Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ART) has assigned number 115 to emergency social services.
115 will enable the homeless to telephone the social services to find a concrete solution to an urgent problem such as the need for food, shelter, medical care or other types of social assistance.
Like all emergency numbers (15, 17, 18, 112 and 119), 115 will be routed by all wireline and mobile telecommunications operators. Calls will be free of charge.
