Passing of Corinne ERHEL

Paris, 6 May 2017

It was with heavy hearts and tremendous sorrow that Arcep, its Board and its entire staff learned of the sudden death of Corinne ERHEL, Deputy for the Côtes-d'Armor.

A member of the National Assembly's Economic Affairs Committee, Corinne ERHEL was one of the leading MPs on telecommunications and digital issues. Over the past ten years, both as a member of the opposition and the ruling majority, she helped shape the legal landscape and public debates over these vital matters, with skill and dedication. Open to innovation and keen to ensure that everyone benefit from it, Corinne was instrumental in enabling public policymakers to tackle often very technical issues that were crucial to the future of our country: net neutrality, regional digital development, the competitiveness of France's telecom sector and digital ecosystem and, more recently, the State's digital transformation, the Internet of Things…

Representing the Côtes d'Armor, a land of excellence and of telecommunications milestones in France, Corinne ERHEL worked tirelessly to ensure the right balance between government regulation and keeping the sector competitive. For Arcep, Corinne ERHEL was a demanding and trusted interlocutor, a compassionate force of progress who, through dialogue and with due respect for its independence, enabled regulation to mesh efficiently with the Nation's priorities.

Today it is the entire telecoms and digital family that mourns the passing of Corinne ERHEL. A dedicated, open, approachable, humane and warm woman, the suddenness of her passing has been a terrible shock for us all. Arcep extends its deepest condolences to her loved ones, and joins them in their sorrow.
