Recommendation related to the provision by France Télécom of a leased lines service to operators

Paris, 2 August 2001

The French Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has published a recommendation related to the provision by France Télécom of a leased lines service allowing other operators to connect their points of presence (PoP) to their customers’ premises.

The Authority's objective is to promote competition on the medium- and high-speed data transport services market throughout the country, allowing operators to complete their own leased lines offer between their customers' premises located outside their network area, through an interconnection service provided by France Télécom.

The requested services involve leased lines under 50 kilometres and speed ranging from 64 kbit/s to 155 Mbit/s, with tariffs oriented towards relevant interconnection costs. These tariffs must be based on the distance as the crow flies between the operator's PoP and its customer's premises.

The recommendation is published on our Internet site.
