Arcep awards licences to use frequencies in the 900 MHz band in Réunion


Arcep published the official results of the frequency assignment procedures for the 900 MHz band in Réunion on 5 April 2024[1]. On 30 April 2024, Arcep awarded operators the licences to use these frequencies.

The firm Zeop Mobile is authorised to use frequencies in the 900 MHz* band up to 30 April 2025, according to the following arrangement:

* During the procedure for assigning 900 MHz band spectrum in Réunion up to 30 April 2025, the firms Orange SA, SRR and Telco OI did not obtain additional frequencies, but the frequencies held by the firms Orange SA and Telco OI were rearranged.

The firms Orange SA, SRR, Telco OI and Zeop Mobile are authorised to use frequencies in the 900 MHz band as of 1 May 2025 according to the following arrangements:

The award of these licences marks the completion of these assignment procedure. In addition, operators will only be able to use the 900 MHz band frequencies in Réunion that are being rearranged up to 30 April 2025 starting on 14 June 2024, to enable the operators affected by this rearrangement to coordinate, to avoid harmful interference between the different mobile networks.

Recap of the previous stages of the procedure in Réunion

As a reminder, in January 2024 Arcep authorised the firms Orange SA, SRR, Telco OI and Zeop Mobile to participate in the assignment procedure for 900 MHz band spectrum in Réunion. The Government had launched this procedure in September 2023.

After having examined the tender dossiers, the principal auction for the assignment of all of the 900 MHz band frequencies available as of 1 May 2025 (7 blocks of 2x5 MHz) was held on 13 February 2024[2], and made it possible to determine the blocks of frequencies obtained by each of the winning candidates.

Operators’ positioning in the 900 MHz band in Réunion up to 30 April 2025 was determined following Arcep’s consultation with the affected stakeholders, and will come into effect on 14 June 2024.
